Brief History of Chiropractic

History of Chiropractic Care

You may be surprised to learn that chiropractors date back to the beginning of time. Ancient historians in China and Greece recorded medical treatment that involved manipulation of the lower extremities, which was designed to ease back pain.

Chiropractic care didn’t make its way to the United States until the late 19th century. Throughout the 20th century, chiropractors received legal recognition throughout all 50 states. Chiropractors are viewed as pioneers in non-invasive care through the promotion of science based approaches that can impact a variety of ailments.

As the list of disorders treated by chiropractic care continues to increase, more people are reportedly seeking chiropractic treatment for pain relief and improvement in motion and functioning. In order to become a chiropractor, one must complete four to five years of education at a chiropractic college. Individual state licensing requirements must also be met.

What makes chiropractic care different ?

Chiropractic uses a natural and conservative approach that enables the treatment of pain without incorporating invasive procedures or requiring medication to be taken. Chiropractors perform exams and take x-rays to determine problems and to come up with an effective treatment plan.
